In
accordance with Goodspeed's History of Moore County,
Tennessee: "William
B. Prosser came to the area in 1806 from North Carolina."
This one
sentence is the entire extent of what Goodspeed
published regarding William B. Prosser!
|
In the 1820 Lincoln Co., TN census
there was a James Prosser
(age 26-45), and in the 1820 Franklin Co., TN census
there was a
William Prosser
(age 18-26) and a Jesse
Prosser (age 18-26). Many
researchers including myself believe these three Prosser
males were brothers. The
William Prosser
of 1820 Franklin Co., TN was my 4th
Great Grandfather.
A few researchers believe that the
William B. Prosser
whom Goodspeed wrote about may have been the father of
James, William, and Jesse. At this time, it is my
guess
that the particular William that Goodspeed wrote about
may just as well have been my 4th Great Grandfather -
however to date, I have not found any surviving Tax,
Deed/Indenture, Wills, or any other miscellaneous
records to prove or disprove either possibility. |
