The name of Jesse's father:  Henry Dickens; mother:  Uncertain
The name of Jesse's wife:
Mary "Polly" McDernent; she appears to have been the daughter "Jacob McDerment" and an unknown wife.

Based on Henry's location between 1789 - 1800,  Jesse was probably born in Caswell County, NC.  Even though Jesse's age in the 1800 Caswell Co., NC Census indicates he was born between 1784 - 1790, based on his 1820 and 1830 Smith Co., TN Census data, I believe he was most likely born in 1790; he died in Smith Co., TN between 1833 and 1839/40. He would have been between 43 and 50 at the time of his death. The name of Jesse's wife was Mary "Polly" McDerment - she died between 1860 - 1870.

Jesse and Mary's children were:

William (of Caroline) lived in Jesse's household prior to his marriage to Caroline Summersett. (Note #2)

NOTE #1 Although records indicate "Hyrum" was Jesse's son, I have found no absolute proof.

NOTE #2: A William Dickens who married Caroline Summersett between 1830 - 1833 (daughter of Joseph and Harriett Sommersett) - was the male 10-16 enumerated in Jesse's Dickens household in the 1820 Smith Co., TN Census. William' may have the son of John Sr. or Charlotte. This William ended up in Obion Co., TN.

NOTE #3: Joseph W. Dickens used two aliases in his earlier years. In 1840, he is in the Smith Co., TN Census as: Jimerson;  In 1850, he is in the Smith Co., TN Census as: Josiah; In 1860, he is in the Wilson Co., TN Census as: Joseph; Thereafter the name Joseph is continually used.
