My 5th Great Grandfather
As of this posting, the names of Henry's parents are not known/verified
As of this posting, the name of Henry's wife(s), and their parents are not known/verified

The first verifiable records for this "Henry Dickens" (hereafter called Henry Sr.) can be found in what was Bute County, North Carolina beginning around 1766.  When Bute was disestablished in 1779 - and became Warren and Franklin Counties, Henry Sr.  resided on Haw Tree Creek in the part of Bute that became Warren. He then migrated to Caswell County, North Carolina shortly before 1789; and from there Henry Sr. migrated to Smith County, Tennessee between 1805 and 1808 and settled on the Caney Fork. Henry Sr. was born before 1755 (possibly as early as 1744) and died in Smith Co., TN between August 11, 1828 (date he signed his will) and before the end of November 1828 (when his will was proven in open court).

Henry Sr. would have been somewhere between 73 and 83 at the time of his death. Although there is a candidate name for Henry Sr.'s first wife, I have been unable to verify it at this time - thus not mentioned. Furthermore, he may have had more than one wife. The names of his children are as follows:

See Henry Dickens Sr.'s   Myth#3

NOTE #1:  It is with certainty that in addition to his 5 known sons: William, John, Jeremiah, Jesse, and Joseph - Henry Dickens Sr. had another son (who based on the available data must have been born before 1770). This sons name is Unverified - however, I believe that like his father - he was also a Henry (hereafter called Henry Jr.). The existence of this 6th son is based upon a preponderance of available information, and even if his name was not Henry Jr., nonetheless, whatever his name was, he in fact existed.

NOTE #2:  Although it is uncertain who Henry Sr.'s father and mother were - it is with 100% certainty that I can say: Henry Sr.'s parents were NOT Joseph Dickens and Hannah Lunsford as many people have incorrectly listed in their family tree.
