The name of
Henry Dickens' father is uncertain. It is
my belief that Henry Dickens
and the James Dickens who died
1807 in Wilson County, Tennessee - were brothers.
This James of Wilson County, Tennessee is said by some
researchers to have been the son of James
Dickens Sr.
Although I have not been able to locate any
documentation to proove a connection to Henry or James,
there was indeed a "James Dickens"
in the same general area of North Carolina who was old
enough to have been the father of both Henry and James. |

NOTE:
*There
was an Elizabeth (Last Name Not
Unknown/Verified) married to "William Darnell"
of Bute County, North Carolina where we first find Henry
Dickens in court records. Some researchers believe
she may have been a "Madgelin".
However, it should be noted that this William Darnell
was a witness/bondsman for a few marriages of Henry
Dickens' children. This William Darnell followed
Henry Dickens from Bute to Caswell County, North
Carolina and then onto Jackson and Smith Counties,
Tennessee. It is therefore also possible that
"Elizabeth" was a not a Madgelin, but could have been a
sister of Henry Dickens. Furthermore, a daughter of
Henry Dickens - "Elizabeth" later
married "Littleton Darnell", a son of
William and Elizabeth Darnell.
