The name of
Elizabeth's father:
Henry Dickens
Sr.; mother:
Uncertain
The name of Elizabeth's husband:
1)
Littleton Darnell,
2) John Smith
Elizabeth was born between 1785 and 1790. Some time
between 1784 and 1789, her father moved his wife and
children from Warren County (formerly Bute)
North Carolina to Caswell County,
North Carolina - because her date of birth is not
exactly known, we can only speculate which of the two
counties she was born in.
Elizabeth (also known as "Lydia") married "Littleton Darnell" who was the son of
William and Elizabeth Darnell. William Darnell was
a Revolutionary War Soldier; and his wife Elizabeth was
a Madgelin or may have been a Dickens (See
note #1 for Henry Dickens Sr.).
By 1840, Elizabeth and Littleton had probably divorced
as she was not in the census data for Littleton's
household at that time - her whereabouts is not known.
By 1850 Elizabeth was living as head of household in
Smith Co., TN along with a few of her children. At
the same time in 1850 Littleton had removed to Pulaski
Co., Missouri and was living with Sarah Huff.
Three years later, in December 1853, Elizabeth married John Smith - who
died shortly thereafter. There were no children as
a result of this marriage.
Elizabeth and Littleton's children are as follows:
