My 3rd Great Grandfather
The name of Bryant's father:  Jeremiah Dickens; mother:  Rebeccah Dickens
The name of Bryant's wife:  Elizabeth Delaney Gentry

 
Bryant was born about 1822 in Jackson Co., TN, and died June 1890 in Smith Co., TN.  During the Civil War, Bryant served in both the Confederate Army, and then the Union Army. In his Civil War Pension Application, it states Bryant died from complications caused by "Hydrocilia" and that he is buried at "Chestnut Mound". 

  

Bryant was married twice: his first to Sally Bush (whom he divorced within 3 months of the marriage; and they had NO children together);  his second wife was "Elizabeth Delaney Gentry" who was born Jan 1822. Delaney who was crippled and nearly blind in her later years - unable to care for herself, died Jan 1901 in Portland, Sumner Co., TN while living with her daughter Mary Catherine Finn.

NOTE #1:  In 1860, Lewis went by the name "Robert Dickerson" and was living in David and Mary Harvel's household in Smith Co., TN.  

  

NOTE #2:  Tennessee (aka: Teny) had an illegitimate son James L. Dickens born April 1870, and in accordance with court records, his father was a "William Massey". A few years later Teny married the widower Jesse M. Dickens.  Teny went by many names over the years - including: Delaney, Teny, Matilda, Eliza, Lizzy, and Franny or Fannie.
